Okay – I feel compelled to have The Tea Tiger as this week’s “Sophie’s Choice”. Why? Because I use mine every single day and whereever I go, people ask me to write down the website where I found it. Even some of the 6th Graders who I teach a Sustainable class to, want to know. The Tea Tiger is a BPA-free insulated brewing mug for tea. You throw in 1 tsp of whichever loose tea you like, pour on just-off-the-boil water, and you’re good to go. Your tea will gently brew and keep warm for hours. If you use good quality green, white or oolong teas, you don’t need to strain the leaves off and when you’re done, you can add more water for a second brew (using orginal leaves). The taste of the loose teas that you can purchase from Strand Tea are incredible. If you’re used to tea bags, the difference is similar to that of cheap table wine (the tea bag) and vintage fine wine. Once smitten, you’ll never go back to tea bags again (which in the industry, for the most part, are known to be filled with the dust and crumbs leftover from the whole leaves).
