Time to start thinking about New Year’s Resolutions. I was talking to my seven-year old daughter about it this morning and we both have so many things that we want to give up/change, that we don’t know where to begin! She’s thinking about totally giving up sucking her thumb (we’ve whittled it down to the occasional night now) and I’m strongly in favor of that particular one! My choices range from giving up hot baths completely (so many guilty gallons of wasted water,) to giving up my car for one day a week. I’m clear that as far as Green goes, it’s a good time to step up to the plate and commit to a couple of actions that require a little compromise. Every time I rise to such a challenge, I feel utterly fantastic. There is no greater thrill than knowing that I am attempting to lighten my footprint and thus make a difference. We’d love to hear about some of your proposed resolutions for 2009?
Congratulations!

My New Year’s resolutions are to continue becoming more green, as I have just started in the last month or so, and to try giving people the knowledge I have about being green.

I recently went home to New Zealand (I live in Canada) and took my gg book with me and left it with my youngest sister to read and pass to my other 4 sisters (they cost $40 down there so kinda spendy). I got mine at costco for a very reasonable price and had planned to buy one for each of them, then they stopped selling them
My goal is to buy myself another one, and also buy another 2 to give to friends – I figure if everyone gives a few gg books to others to read, the green movement will grow, slowely but surely – she was halfway through by the time we left nz and already looking at what she can change in her life

A dear friend of mine gave me ‘Gorgeously Green’ as a Christmas Gift and I have yet to put it down! My resolution . . . to begin my journey (on foot of course!) to go green!

Last year, we changed all of our cleaning products, bought all energy star appliances, switched to organic fruits and veggies and reduced to one vehicle for the household. This year the plan is to change all of our personal care products and start composting.

My New Year’s Resolution for 2009 is to eat a vegan diet, I have been vegetarian for 3 year so this seems like the next step although it takes a lot more planning and eating out can be a challenge. I have organized a green group of my girl friends to start in a couple weeks we are going to read through the chapters and find attainable goals for all of us. everyone seems to have some things they have been meaning to do, but just needed that extra push. im so excited about the green changes we will be making together! I also have an etsy site where I make handmade jewelry and all my items are vegan

I just finished your book last night (I purchased it only a few days prior) and have already implemented several changes to our lives. Thank you so much for writing Gorgeously Green! I am thrilled to know that because of it, not only will our lives be healthier, so will the lives of others.

I have thought myself pretty socially conscious and careful of the footprint I leave behind. I belong to a local co-op and get fruits and veggies from local valley growers, try to have one errand day so driving less and stepped it up on recycling. I am constantly learning (especially from Gorgeously Green!), so I plan on stepping it up in 2009, composting, growing some of my own veggies (at least some) and I am not ever buying anything that is a knockoff again. I always thought it was a cheap way to get something fashionable, yet I never thought of where it came from! YIKES! I felt like I was kicked in the stomach when I learned these items contribute to child labor and other horrific atrocities in our world, besides the fact it hurts our economy. Its very unamerican! So lets step it up girls and be more conscious of every aspect of our life.
