Is Change Possible?
November 10th, 2008 by Sophie
Today there is a new feeling about the possibility of Change. It is so positive and inspiring and I hope we can allow it to inform our cause. For many of us the changes that are necessary for us to reverse the direction of the ecological state of our planet seems daunting. How will so many people commit to changing their lifestyle and really undertake a new approach daily with Green Living at the forefront? I kept thinking little by little. That seemed like a realistic approach although slow. Is that enough?
Today I am wondering if it can be bigger? This week we have seen a group of people stand up and make an agreed upon choice for CHANGE. Can we harness this collective, powerful feeling of CHANGE IS POSSIBLE and fly with it towards some massive Legislation that confirms the cause of our Planet as Priority number one? How can we streamline our focus in a way that effects a major change for our Mother EARTH?

Carpool to the Polls
November 3rd, 2008 by Sophie
If you check Facebook as compulsively as I do and are planning on voting as well (a yes to both for me) you will totally dig the Facebook Application, Carpool to the Polls. The good folks at ridesharing company Zimride are offering us an eco-friendly and affordable way to connect with our friends, neighbors, and coworkers to ride to the polls, come November 4th.
Zimride is a carpool system based on a social networking platform, like Facebook, connecting folks who need rides with drivers, and vice versa. Back in July, I traveled cross country with Zimride Founder, John Zimmer, and three other pals, picking up Zimriders along the way, and documenting the whole thing. Check out photos from the trip and an interview which aired on ABC Nightly News. We hope to finish the documentary and submit it to a festival in the coming year.
Zimride has partnered with Live Earth for Carpool to the Polls and what a great way to get psyched for voting, come November 4th. The best part of Zimriding besides emissions reductions and saving money, as I experienced it on my trip, was the incredible conversations that transpired in the car. I can only imagine how interesting the discussions will be in the carpools on the way to and from the polls!

Twice as Kice – Margaret Teich
October 22nd, 2008 by Sophie
The Kice sisters, Karen and Lesley, have accompanied one another on many life journeys throughout the years. Like, gestating in the womb for nine months, together. Or attending the Kansas City Art Institute, together. Most recently, successfully launching the Fall 2008 collection from their children’s clothing line, Kice Kice .
The Kice Kice collection is made in the US from 100% organic wool, cotton and Okeo-Tex (organic twill). Moreover the styles are so cute, as are the mini models rocking the looks, I almost want to to scoop up multiple tunic dresses, trapeze coats, and trousers for the children I have yet to conceive. Perhaps I should conceive up a boyfriend first…
If you do have a young fashion plate to shop for, get a double dose of Kice Kice, and may they look as awesome as the tots in these photos.
