I love to save money by making my own mouthwash because conventional drugstore mouthwashes contain alcohol, harsh detergents, artificial sweeteners, dyes etc. This recipe is from my book Do It Gorgeously, and in the book there’s a recipe for a companion toothpaste, which you can easily make too.
You will need:
1 16-oz plastic bottle (an old mouthwash bottle is ideal)
1 cup aloe vera juice
1/2 cup distilled water
1tbsp witch hazel (drugstore)
2tsp baking soda
20 drops peppermint essential oil (make sure you buy pure essential oil. I recommend Mountain Rose Herbs.)
Simply mix all the ingredients together in a glass measuring jug and pour into the bottle. It will keep up to 2 weeks in a cool, dark cupboard.
