Changes
Someone has posted on the message board “what changes have you made since reading Gorgeously Green?” It is so inspiring for all of us to hear your changes - big and small. Nothing is too insignificant to be shared. My husband loves to Scuba Dive and he has switched to using eco-sunscreens to help protect the coral and the fish. So let us know what you and all your loved ones are up to?
Don’t forget to enter July’s Competition as there’s still a few days left.

I have been a voracious shopper, buying too many clothes with no thought of where they came from or what they were made out of. Now, I ask myself questions. Do I really need this item? Did someone suffer to make it? Did this garment hurt our environment? Does this item fill a need in my wardrobe? This is a miracle for me and I am happier for it. Same with personal products. I am actually having fun!

Before seeing Sophie on Oprah I had found out about the skin deep web site. The research started, and changes were being made.Hair care products, bath products and lotion, facial products, and deodorant were all changed.I have started changing out my cosmetics.I am very excited about Josie Maran’s line!I am also looking forward to David Babaii’s hair care line. Since reading Gorgeously Green I have been washing clothes in cold water more. We bought a compost bin.My husband took over on that project, he loves it!I bought an Electra Bike to do my quick and simple errand runs as well as just riding about and getting exercise.I LOVE my bike!Changed almost all light bulbs, we are sticklers on wasting electricity. We cut back on watering the lawn.Shower times are shorter.Organic dirt was bought for all my herb pots this year as well as flower pots.My friends and I car pool to work and for some shopping. And last but not least….I always try and cook fresh! I work at a 4 diamond restaurant that has been leaning to sustainable foods. They have an organic garden, and raise chickens for eggs, and are also raising Wagyu cattle.I have always been funny about box food, I was raised on home cooked fresh foods so this has been carried over, however, between the education provided from my job and through Sophie I am eating even better than before.I have saved money, and I am am making healthier choices, because of that I feel better and we are having fun with all the new stuff and changes.!Thank you Sophie for sharing, and educating!

I am going to be a grandma in Dec. and this book has made me aware of all the harmful chemical found in everyday things. So I have gone crazy and starting buying organic mattress for the crib, mattress pad, changing pad, crib sheets, clothes, cleaners, diapers, etc. I have also started driving 45 minutes once a month to stock up on items at the Whole Foods Grocery Store in Fresno. I also bought an electric mower and have ordered all new windows for my home. You can say I jumped feet first onto the bandwagon.

I’m making my own face oils, cleaners, essential oil blends and we are growing our own vegetables/herbs. It’s fun to make or grown your own stuff.
And it’s even more fun to share all of this with your friends!

I bought Sophie’s book for my mother’s Mothers Day gift, I ended up reading it twice before I even gave it to her in may. now all my sisters and aunts have passed around the same copy adding notes, reasearch, ideas, and highlights. It has become our “Green” Family Bible.

Where to begin?
When reading the book, I felt like I was being directly spoken to…I started buying the reusable shopping bags, I stopped using paper towels..now I use dish rags for everything from cleaning to drying hands…think about, what did people do before paper towels were produced? When I feel like the rag is dirty enough, I toss it in with my laundry. I’ve bought biodegradable poop bags for my pooch….I’ve started recycling my ice coffee cups from Dunkin Donuts, organic everything as much as possible, Reusable coffee mugs, tupperware made from recycled plastic, I’ve recently purchased organic sheets from Target that were a pretty fair price, maybe $40 for a full-size set? Not bad.
I could honestly go on and on, I feel like the book has changed the way I look at everything…Thanks Sophie!

As an Australian conservation biologist I have always been concerned about the environment and always recycled and used cloth bags etc. but didn’t realise until I started reading Sophie’s book how much I was still impacting on the environment and my own health.
I am cleaning out any nasties in my skincare and make-up regime and replacing them with better options. I am also trying to buy as much organic, minimum packaging and less processed foods as I can. I carpool to work when possible and try not to be lazy and walk to the shops!
For those Aussies who also want to be ‘Gorgeously Green’, some greener brands available down under I can suggest are Nature’s Organics (skincare, haircare and cleaning products), The Body Shop (Awesome product line where you can recycle all the packaging in store and support good causes)and for yummy guilt free snacks the major supermarkets stock Artisse 100% organic chocolate, All Natural Bakery products and Thomas Chipman Chips (organic and gluten free).
Look forward to making more changes!!! Thanks Sophie!

I was thrilled when I picked up this book! I am only on ch. 3 so far, but my husband and I have already started recycling, changed our all of our light bulbs, started using low VOC paints, and using eco friendly bath products! We even have plans for changes we plan on making and products we plan to use when we start a family (hello organic or home-made baby food and eco-friendly diapers!) I’m loving all of our changes and hearing everyones great ideas as well!

Hi! Your book has been inspiring to me! We have made so many changes-all simple and beneficial. I cleaned out my cosmetics and other personal care products. I am working on replacing them with safe, eco-friendly products. I love the “Luxurious Facial Oil” and have tried many of the cooking recipes. (The hummus is unbelievably yummy!) My husband and I bring reusable bags to the farmer’s market and grocery store. We also have changed to eco-friendly lightbulbs. Thank you for making “Going Green” accesible.

It’s not everyday that I pick up a book and find myself looking to change my life and my family’s life. My husband and I have done little things here and there to be more environmentally conscienceous, but your book has opened our eyes to a whole new world. Even our kids have noticed the changes we have made and have started asking questions about how they can help. How great is that!!!

I love your book, it has truly inspired me to be earth friendly. My Mom and I have read this book together and enjoy sharing what we learn with others.

I bought and used the Diva Cup, love it.
I have asked my parents for a compost bin for my birthday in a few weeks (they already have one) and my father is coming over to build a clothesline (so I don’t have to use the neighbors…).

I humbly thought we had much of the green thing covered - I was one of those that wore breadbox shoes, and bought those pathetic organic apples 10 years back. But, I have to say, I absolutely loved the book and have learned many, many things about conservation, health and humor along the way.
We have made many changes in response to the information in the book. We have loved our reusable bags (those plastic ones no longer breed in my cupboards….) and everyone dear to us has received a Sigg bottle as a gift.
The biggest impact has been looking locally for our food. We have had a wonderful summer of shopping the farms and joining a CSA - our food has been beautiful and we feel much more connected to what is on our table (especially our 5 year old who loves to pick her dinner veggies).
I have to admit that I have not “reused or recycled” my book by lending it out - I have bought and gifted about ten of them so far. All the wonderful girls and women in my life deserve to have access to this awakening, funny, hope giving and brilliant book. Thanks so much for giving another face to green!!

I have changed all of the cleaning products to nontoxic, changed all of my families bath and body products, gone organic, and started worm composting….Whew, that book changed my life

I’m always into discussions on anything organic, so this read made me feel at home.
