What’s your take on Nuclear Power?

Hey girls - so I’m really interested to hear you all weighing on on nuclear power as an “alternative” energy source. I’m not a fan because I think we’re moving into dodgy territory if we start building more nuclear plants (according to Co-op America, we would need 17,000 new plants to begin to make a dint in global warming, and we currently draw power from only 400). Building even a fraction of this number of nuclear plants could pose some very serious risks: toxic waste, cancer risk, and nuclear proliferation, being the worst. Moreover, uranium is a finite resource that we will eventually run out of.
Better concentrate on risk-free alternative technologies like solar and wind power and of course, CONSERVE your energy - one switch makes a difference.

We’re an organization building bridges between the sustainable fashion industry and the anti-nuclear community. Please logon to our website, catch up on the fight to shut down the Indian Point nuclear power plant on the Hudson river in New York, a wake up call for the entire anti-nuclear movement. Indian point is one of the oldest, dirtiest and most vulnerable nuke in America. It has a litany of unsurmountable problems, and is leaking Tritium and Strontium-90 into the ground water table. It’s putting at risk 20 million people in the Hudson Valley and New York City. The governor, the attorney general and a majority of congressional representatives have stated their clear opposition to its relicencing, and yet, there seems to be little citizens can do to stop it the plant operating for another 20, maybe 40 years. This is where Rock The Reactors comes in, we’re the guys with a plan!

Nuclear power is not the answer. It has it’s big draw backs. Terrorist target being just one. Has everyone forgotten the melt down if we build more then more could malfunction and ending life on the plant wouldn’t be a down the road kinda thing it would be over right now really RIGHT NOW! People need to ask if our power source malfunctions what is the worse that could happen…Nuclear vs Solar What do you think would be the worse thing? What is the best power source?
