AIR FRESHENER
January 27th, 2012 by Sophie
Conventional air fresheners are the absolute worst when it comes to toxicity – so avoid at all costs! You can so easily make your own powerful spray to deal with all kinds of unpleasant odors. Here’s one of my recent favorites.
You will need:
1 small 16-ounce sprayer
Cheap Vodka
Distilled Water
Bergamot Essential Oil
Coriander Essential Oil
Simply fill your sprayer with 1 1/2 cups water and 1/2 cup of vodka. Add 30 drops of both essential oils.
If you go with a smaller 8-ounce bottle, just half all the ingredients.

NYR
January 24th, 2012 by Sophie
Another fantastic skin care product has just come out of Neal’s Yard Remedies wheel house – their “Beauty Sleep Concentrate” is one of the best night time serums in the completely “natural” category. It’s formulated with Daffodil extract, which helps damaged skin rejuvenate. It also contains amino acids, which help to increase collagen and thicken skin. Essential oils of Clary Sage, Cypress, Orange, Patchouli, and Ylang Ylang, all work their calming magic and give this potion a delicate floral scent. I’ve always loved Neal’s Yard Remedies and am super-impressed with this beauty-sleep aid!

HERBAN COWBOY
January 22nd, 2012 by Sophie
I’m very fussy when it comes to natural deodorants, because many of them just don’t work! I used Herban Cowboy’s new For Her Deodorant for the last week and am pleased to report that it does work pretty well. I didn’t put it through any major-sweating events (giving speeches, working out etc,) so I can’t tell you how it would work in extreme circumstances, but for everyday use, it did a great job. Its free of the major nasties – aluminum, propylene glycol and triclosan. Its 100% vegan and made in the USA

Nourishing Hair Treatment
January 21st, 2012 by Sophie
If you hair feels limp and lifeless or looks dull, it might be time for an intensive and nourishing treatment. The good news is that you can easily make it yourself. This treatment is miraculous for your scalp and your hair.
Cedarwood & Rosemary Hair Treatment
4 oz jar virgin coconut oil
25 drops rosemary essential oil
15 drops cedarwood essential oil
Melt the coconut oil by placing the jar in a bowl of very hot water. Pour your melted coconut oil into a smaller (ideally dark,) glass jar. Add the essential oils and mix well. Place a little of the warm oil in the palm of your hand and work into your scalp and then through you hair to the ends. Wrap your hair in a towel and leave for 30 minutes. Use shampoo on hair BEFORE adding water to rinse out oil. Repeat if necessary.
Your hair treatment will last in a cool, dark spot for up to 2 years. Each time you want to use it, warm the jar in hot water to soften the oil.

Forever Natural Bamboo Bath Pouf
January 18th, 2012 by Sophie
Bamboo fiber has been getting a lot of attention lately in the “green scene” for being a highly renewable fiber with many remarkable uses. This lovely little green bath pouf from Forever Natural is made of 100 percent pesticide-free bamboo fiber, and is naturally antibacterial! Say goodbye to those itchy, smelly bath poufs from the past. This one is soft and luxurious and creates a rich lather with any shower gel or soap. My favorite shower gel to use with it is the yummy orange blossom gel douche from Rampal Latour, a great French soap company which uses all plant based ingredients and natural fragrance.
