Oooooh, I love to talk about beauty products! Here’s a few tips for step two: Always read the ingredient list on any product you buy and avoid:
- Parabens (methyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, butyl-, and isobutyl-)
- Fragrance
- Polyethylene Glycol (PEG)
- Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (SLES)
- DEH, DEA, MEA, TEA & DEA
- Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (Quats)
- Carbomer 934, 940, 941, 960, 961C
- Talc
Check pages 22-27 of Gorgeously Green for more detailed information about which ingredients to avoid. You can also visit Cosmetics Database and enter a product or brand to check out its Environmental Working Group hazard rating.
