Leave us a comment here on the topic “Preventative Healthcare” and we’ll pick a winner on Saturday 14th of November.
Ajne’s fragrances and lotions are filled with natural microbial and anti-bacterial oils “Lavender oil can kill a flu bug on the spot” says Ajne’s Natural Perfumer Jane Hendler, “In fact, essential oils such as lavender and thyme, are proven to be more antiseptic than phenol, the standard ingredient in anti-bacterial products on the market today.” Ajne’s fragrances and lotions, including the solid lotion, are chock full of Rosemary, Thyme, Tee-Tree and Lavender oils, which can stop H1N1 in it’s tracks. By wearing Ajne’s all-natural products you are preventing the flu and in a safe, natural way and you’ll smell great! An added bonus?
Ajne’s fragrances, such as Citron Regenerez and deLavande are so light you can dab them on your pulse points and lightly mist your hands without the scent becoming overpowering, and they naturally fade so you can do this several times a day. Hendler says “Ajne’s solid lotion is also ideal for protecting you from the flu. Just pop it in your purse and use it throughout the day, especially after the gym or the grocery store.”

Preventative healthcare is not soley for personal benefit. It goes beyond to protect the one’s you love as well. By taking care of yourself, and putting forth effort to avoid contracting an illness, your loved one’s have less of a chance of contracting it as well. Besides your family, a healthy you is a better you. And you should always strive to be the best you can be.
November 4th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
Thank you for offering a great give away! I think that the saying “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” is pretty relevant right now. Thank you for the write up on natural cures instead of tons of chemicals.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:03 pm
Preventative health care isn’t pumping yourself up with vaccines and medicines, but rather taking a healthy alternative and making sure that your environment is clean and green. Making sure that your home and surroundings are clean is making sure that you and your loved ones are clean.

Beauty, Fragrence, and Flu prevention. What more could a girl ask for!
November 4th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
a haiku~
preventative health:
eco-friendly remedies
to live and breathe green.
November 5th, 2009 at 9:51 am
Preventative healthcare is not only a way to protect ourselves and modify risk factors, but a way to reduce or avoid medical costs and environmental impact. I have been trying harder this cold and flu season to use preventative care that is natural; utilizing my neti pot and Dr. Bonner’s soaps, drinking teas, and taking my vitamins/herbs etc. I have also been looking for more natural anti-bacterial methods etc. Sophie’s sit always has great recommendations for products. This is another beneficial example. Thank you!

When I think of Preventative Healthcare, I think of overall wellness. This includes taking care of myself physically by eating whole, healthy foods, drinking water, getting plenty of sleep, and being active. It also involves looking after my emotional well being by keeping my life as simple as possible, surrounding myself with positive things, and practicing yoga/meditation. Preventative healthcare to me also means doing my part to keep my immediate surroundings and the environment green and “healthy”.
November 5th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
I think good old castile soap and water can go a long way in staying healthy. Good hand washing and keeping you hands away from your face is always a plus. I also enjoy drinking Traditional Medicinal Teas for my health. Plus I walk.
November 5th, 2009 at 9:02 pm
The most important part of Preventive Healthcare is maintaining good health habits. Such as choosing organic skincare products that won’t harm your health, choosing organic foods that won’t harm your health, exercising to benefit your health, getting annual check-ups to benefit your health and most of all cutting out stress in your life. Here’s to a healthier you!!
November 6th, 2009 at 11:13 am
Preventive Health Care is the most important of all; above that its so simple too! Maintain a healthy diet, drink tons of water, exercise, take your vitamins and laugh! Something in our culture we are fortunate enough to do and yet many of us don’t take advantage of.
November 6th, 2009 at 12:33 pm
If every person took a moment, took a clear breath, and focused on their own health each day by filling their minds and bodies with natural, organic & positive bits (whether nutrition or thoughts) and focused clearly on happiness and wholeness, one by one the whole world would be a better, happier and healthier place. Now that is preventative healthcare!
November 6th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
I am just beginning my green awareness, I looove Sophie’s books, they are constantly bookmarked or open on my desk, and, being pregnant and working as a typist on horribly dirty keyboards, and continually slathering my hands in sanitizer, this product sounds amazing.. there are so many new products and I love hearing about them!
November 6th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
Once I started to figure out the link between my diet and how often I got sick, I changed everything. I love how you can use essential oils, herbs and tonics to keep your system strong. I use EO candles to help kill bacteria as well. Finding fun ways to involve these things in your daily routine is what I love now!
November 6th, 2009 at 4:33 pm
Preventative Health; simple,
not to everybody.
Body and Mind
need to be treated kind
Exercise often
to avoid early dismissal to your coffin
Drink tons of water
teach this to your sons & daughters
Take up yoga
S-T-R-E-T-C-H
Wash your hands
with organic soap,
of course
Eat plenty of fruits & vegetables
avoid the ones prayed with chemicals
- Take your vitamins -
Make sleep a priority
pass this along to your sleep deprived sorority
Calm your mind at least once a day; do something you enjoy,
have a bath or read a play
Have safe sex:
and lots of it!
Love and be loved
don’t re reckless with others hearts
LAUGH, DANCE, SING
give your parents a ring
I believe if we were all to follow these simple guidelines we would be able to prevent countless numbers of diseases, cancers, heart problems, and every day illnesses! We would be 10x happier and healthier as a community of people who care about the greater good of life on earth.
Peace & Love
Carly

I’m so excited to have finally discovered your books and blog. Thanks for sharing such wonderful tips! As a teacher, I am exposed to more than my fair share of germs. Now, I have another tool to add to my arsenal of protection. Thanks so much!
November 7th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
Preventative healthcare is about consuming a healthy diet, getting exercise, taking quality supplements! By strenghthening our immune systems, we are better suited to fight an illness if/when it tries to get us!
November 8th, 2009 at 9:52 am
If health and health-care are really important to the federal government, preventative health-care costs should be tax deductible.
November 8th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
Preventative health care needs to include a free annual physical as a part of every health insurance policy. Many policies cover well child care but do not cover annual physicals for adults. If we are to remain healthy, we need to see our doctor yearly in addition to doing the things we know we should do (exercise, vitamins, eating right, etc.).
November 8th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
I am one to totally agree with going green and eating organic. I believe it helps fight and prevent any kinds of sickness. If I ever feel a sore throat coming on or achiness I reach for organic foods that are high in antioxidants and I am always fine the next day!
November 8th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
Depicted in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, the grape is the world’s first recorded preventative health hero. Although its high concentration of vitamins B, C and K work to boost your immune system, it is the supplement Resveratrol, found only in grape skin, that makes the grape a standout preventative power.

preventative health care 101 for dogs:
1) Feed your pup good quality food from the get-go (same as in people, a good diet from infancy will lead to a healthy adulthood)
-several serious issues can be avoided with a healthy diet such as hip dysplasia
-don’t buy dollar brands, they are most likely 50% fillers like corn meal that will fly though them and not fill em up.
2) Exercise!
-take em for walks at least once or twice a day
-provide plenty of safe toys for them to play with (and interact with them too)
*tug-o-war is a game to avoid playing with your pup as it can lead to dominance issues
3) cleanliness …
-sure we all want clean dogs but frequent bathing is very hard on their skin and coat; try brushing them daily and wiping them down with a damp cloth once a week as a healthier alternative
-you can find many “dry” washes online that you can make at home
4) know your pup!
-do your research on its breed before purchasing it; check out its parents if possible to see if there are any health issues that run in the family so you can avoid them by feeding them the right diet etc.
-its important to know the psychology of your pup to train it best
By taking these steps rate from the start of your pups life you can expect to have your best friend be a healthier and happier member of your family!

Preventative health care is a life style that we should all practice. Be aware of what goes in your body and in your surroundings. Get outside in nature every day. Don’t believe everything your doctor says. Be responsible for your health. Ask about alternatives to drugs. If you have an infection, try the old drugs first. They had almost no side affects. Be aware. This is the only life you have!

Preventative Health Care: A beautiful necklace that combats the flu and smells good too, who knew, is it too good to be true!?!
November 9th, 2009 at 11:19 am
Preventative Health Care is in some ways believing that your body was created whole; and that you have the means to stay healthy if you use the right tools. Having been on both sides of being healthy – and not – and turning away from the mainstream medical establishment after a disastrous medical procedure that has given me 17 years of chronic pain; I embrace everything that is whole, simple, pure and spiritual. Having a son with a genetic rare disease that the doctors constantly push one medication after another for has strengthened my desire to believe this even more. It starts with you, and you can teach and live it.
November 9th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
What a great idea, I would love to try this product! Thank you Sophie for this great website, and for your book, which makes it so easy for us to be better stewards and smarter consumers, one small step at a time!
November 10th, 2009 at 7:58 am
I’m just starting my green transformation, ( and loving it) and I think that preventative healthcare is so important! And if it makes you smell good, you can beat it! I’m so glad I found this website!
November 10th, 2009 at 11:21 am
The best kind of medicine is preventative medicine! It’s very important to take the measures needed to prevent diseases rather than enduring the task of trying to cure them. This is especially important during these times when new strands of viruses and bacteria are constantly mutating and growing more and more resistant to our cures! So lets all start doing what it takes to keep these nuisances at bay and incorporate natural preventative medicine routines into our everyday lives. Love yourself, everyone around, and this gorgeously green earth we all share!
November 10th, 2009 at 1:03 pm
Eat well, sleep well, de-stress, stay away from sneezing, sniffling people…in some ways keeping healthy is so easy, inexpensive — and green! And yet in our culture it’s *not* always so easy to pull off. Great to know about a natural – and beautiful – product that will help us stay well!
November 11th, 2009 at 1:39 am
Preventive healthcare is the ultimate act of self-love. By taking care of oneself, it allows us to love and care for others, as well. Living healthfully and in a clean environment is the gift that keeps on giving – not only to yourself, but others who live with you. When people ask, “What is she doing to be so energetic and youthful?” you know you are doing somthing right!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:12 am
Keep your body and your surrondings as clean and strong as you can. Your body needs daily exercise, healthy foods and lots of water. Juicing is a wonderful way to keep your body strong during flu season. Stay active by doing things you enjoy- walking, swimming, yoga, hiking, biking, stretching, dancing – there are so many wonderful ways to stay in shape and stay strong.
I love the homemade cleaner recipe in Goregously Green. It’s a wonderful way to keep my home clean, smells great and I know I am not hurting the environment with phosphates. Goregously Green is always nearby for me to pick up and learn a new tip on keeping myself, my family and my environment “Green.” Stay well!
November 11th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
I work with children everyday, so anything that I can do to prevent an illness is well worth it! If we all took part in preventative healthcare, there would be so much less sickness in the world! Thank you for sharing all of these products that are not harmful to our bodies as well as the environment. I feel so much better about my contribution to the earth when I am using all natural products!
November 12th, 2009 at 1:50 pm

Preventative Healthcare is good for my family, my body and the planet! As a pregnant mama of a two-year old preschooler it is so important for me to feel good about everything I put on my body. Knowing I can smell delicious, while protecting me and the baby growing from the flu, harmful chemicals and toxins is more than a gorgeously green girl could ask for!
November 13th, 2009 at 5:22 pm
To me, PREVENTATIVE means being PROACTIVE and in terms of health care, it means doing everything you can to maintain your good health, such as clean eating and staying chemical-free. Living the Gorgeously Green lifestyle is the ONLY way to maintain good health and PREVENT illness. I, for one, can speak from personal experience.
Cheers to good health this holiday season!
November 13th, 2009 at 5:24 pm
Preventative Healthcare is eating well, getting enough rest, washing hands thoroughly with soap and water! Most of all it’s staying away from sick people.

If there were ever a season to brush up on your preventative health care than this is it. In a year where scary triclosan loaded soap is found at every store’s cashiers desk and confusion about vaccines is all around us tis the season to rely on some good old natural remedies. Most importantly I have my kids wash their hands(we use method right now) when they come home from school, they understand to sneeze into their elbow if no tissue is available, we are trying to load up on our fruit and veggies, get a little fresh air everyday and vitamin D for our bodies. This season we are all trying our some probiotics from whole foods so we will see how that works out. I’m thrilled to hear that lavender can actually kill a flu bug. I make my own all purpose spray from sophie’s GG book with lavender and tea tree oil-guess I better do some more cleaning now! All I need now is this beautiful perfume to round out our preventative routine this year!
November 13th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Wow-this product seems amazing! There is so much we can do in prevention with our healthcare. Actually-that is a major piece our Healthcare Reform is missing. This product sounds amazing! Thanks Sophie!

WE WERE RIGHT!! For centuries we ladies have showered and slathered and sprayed and massaged with scents and herbs and flowers…..we were right all along. We knew what we were doing. We weren’t doing ONLY because it was pleasing to the touch or smell. We were protecting ourselves from illnesses.
Boy are we good!!!
November 13th, 2009 at 8:59 pm

November 14th, 2009 at 4:49 am
Wash those hands and try not to touch your face (eyes, nose, mouth). I sound more and more like my mother every day!
November 14th, 2009 at 4:59 am
It amazes me how many people I know who will be the first on the list for a vaccine, but won’t change daily habits to improve their immune system, such as elminating toxic chemicals from their homes.
November 14th, 2009 at 5:02 am
love. love, love that this helps prevent the yucky flu and let’s you smell great at the same time. Chic immune support!!
November 14th, 2009 at 6:10 am
