BAKING SODA TOOTHPASTE

Ever since I included this recipe in my 3rd book, Do It Gorgeously, I’ve had countless letters about how readers love it. It is so refreshing and leaves your teeth feeling way cleaner than regular toothpaste. I have tweaked the recipe a tiny bit here, so enjoy! Also, you’ll save a bunch of money because natural toothpastes can be pretty expensive.

Minty Toothpaste:

2tsp baking soda

2 tsp vegetable glycerin

2tsp hydrogen peroxide

6 drops peppermint essential oil

1/2 tsp xylitol* (powder that you will find in the health food store).

* I added xylitol in place of the stevia because xylitol has been proven to reduce tooth decay.

In a small bowl, mix all the ingredients together to form a paste.

Spoon it into a small jar or air tight plastic container.

When you are ready to use, you simply scoop out the paste with your toothbrush.

The consistency is quite runny, which I like. If, however, it’s too runny for you, add 1 more tsp of baking soda.

If it’s not sweet enough (especially for kids,) add another 1/2 tsp of xylitol.
