If your hair has taken a bit of a bashing this summer, you might be in need of a simple hot oil hair treatment. Homemade hot oil treatments are less expensive and far more nourishing than store-bought ones. Also, if you ever get told by your stylist that your hair is in bad condition and so can he/she use a conditioning treatment, decline it! They usually charge a fortune and this recipe is far better than anything they can offer.
3tsp caster oil
3tsp jojoba oil
1tsp coconut oil
For dry hair & scalp: 10 drops geranium OR sandalwood essential oil
For oily hair & scalp: 10 drops of lavender OR rosemary essential oil
Place the oils into a small ceramic or steel bowl.
Place the bowl over a pan of just-boiled water (heat turned off). Allow the oils to heat up until they are just bearable to touch.
Add the essential oil.
How to use:
Massage into your hair and scalp. Use and old towel (one that you don’t mind getting oily), and wrap your hair into a turban. Leave for 20 minutes. Use a SLS-free shampoo to rinse out. If you are using a sulphate-free shampoo, you may need to shampoo twice. You won’t need to condition.
